Amalfi Coast - 2022

La Dolce Vita

Ralph Waldo Emerson once mused ‘it’s not the destination, but the journey’. Nowhere is this truer than along the Amalfi Coast.

After two weeks in Parga I took the ferry from Igoumenitsa to Brindisi and then over to the Amalfi Coast. My reflection was that Italy is much "greener", the vegetation.

The Amalfi Coast must be one of the worlds most memorable destinations I guess. Totaly outstanding. Or as sombody said: "Driving its winding seaside roads will take you to charming coastal towns, scenic beaches, villas and gardens, and some of the best hotels in the world. Looking for la dolce vita? You've found it."

Driving the entire coast from Salerno is amazing. However, the road is extremely narrow and the traffic is "quite hard to handle". Motorcycles whose riders drive without helmets, big buses, cars that drive like Nicki Lauda, all in a mix. So just put on that big smile and you'll be fine :)

I stayed for 6 days at Hotel Miramalfi. The hotel offers a great view to the seaside and mountains as well.

What's best with Amalfi Coast?

The atmosphere itself is outstanding. The buildings, the architecture, the way of life and the views. Driving the coastal strip is truly an experience. Will I come back? Yes, without a doubt :)
