Cyprus - 2019

During Easter, Tord and I went on a cycling holiday to Cyprus. We stayed at Sunwing Sandy Bay Beach hotel in Ayia Napa. The hotel is a popular hotel for families with children, so what could be more suitable for us :)

The all inclusive concept of the hotel strongly reminded us of the days of school meals. Everyone ran left and right and the noise level was loud.

We were a bit unlucky with the weather, it turned out to be warmer and sunnier back home in Sweden :(

However, it was a fantastic trip to see so much of Cyprus from your bike. Our best experience was to visit the northern part of Cyprus, the Turkish side, Farmagusta. Me and Thord took a day trip to Famagusta and had an excellent launch in the old town. A great day. Don't forget your passport when going to the Turkish side.

We also visit Cape Greco National Forest Park that, among others, offers a magnificent view towards the sea.

What's best about Cyprus and biking?

Cyprus offers good cycling routes along clear blue sea. There are plenty of places to rent bikes. The price picture is perfectly okay. And if you want to go "off the road" so to speak, a mountain bike is preferable.

For those interested in history, Famagusta is worth a visit. Here, time stands still, a poignant sense of war creeps in and creeps along your back :)
